Ryan Gast is a Staff Consultant for Engineering Systems Inc. (ESi) in the Materials practice group. Prior to joining ESi, he worked as a research assistant and was involved in projects centered around aluminum and magnesium alloys. He performed analysis of fracture surfaces, grain growth, fatigue lifetime, crack growth, and twinning within alloys. He has experience in metallurgical analysis methods such as metallography, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD), and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS).
