Eric S. Hegi

Eric Hegi is a Senior Managing Consultant and the Director of Rail for ESi in the Dallas, Texas office. Mr. Hegi amassed over 27 years in railroad operations, safety, claims/litigation, and executive leadership. Casualty claims and litigation management are specialties of Mr. Hegi. He served more than 13 years as a Director, General Director and Vice President of Claims conducting, leading, and managing thousands of claim investigations, evaluations, and ultimate outcomes. Mr. Hegi also managed casualty litigation and economic analysis around multiple types of major casualty incidents.

Prior to joining ESi, Mr. Hegi founded SEVEN20 Solutions, Inc., a boutique risk management strategy company. He was employed for over 27 years by BNSF Railway, the largest Class I Railroad globally. Mr. Hegi served as a conductor/engineer, operations, and safety manager, where he spearheaded hundreds of accident investigations, root cause analyses, pre-loss assessments and operations testing initiatives. He has routinely worked with various federal and state agencies including the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA.)

As an executive leader, Mr. Hegi had operational and financial responsibility over a 125-person department, was involved in shared ownership of multiple policies and processes, and served as Corporate Representative on a variety of topics related to accident investigation, claim handling and field safety. In this capacity, Mr. Hegi has experience testifying in both state and federal cases and has provided numerous depositions.
