Matthew B. Taylor

Mr. Matthew Taylor is a Senior Staff Consultant for ESi.  He has worked in all aspects of railroad operations ranging from the Mechanical, Transportation, and Maintenance of Way Departments. He has extensive experience in derailment investigations, track inspections, geometry track inspection utilizing SolidTrack, and track renewal projects including the installation of continuous welded rail.  He has installed turnouts, conducted right of way surveying, performed mechanical inspections, implemented emergency track repairs and bridge repairs in response to washouts, rockslides and avalanches. He has also conducted and has trained locomotive engineers and conductors regarding operating rules and safety.  He further operated in roles such as Train Dispatcher, Locomotive Engineer, Conductor, and Brakeman. Mr. Taylor’s responsibilities include train operation assessments, railroad accident investigation analyses, train derailment and crossing accident investigations, and evaluation of train handling issues.
