ESi today welcomes Carol J. Benassi, NCARB, AIA as a Sr. Managing Consultant in our Civil, Structural and Environmental practice. With a professional career spanning over 30 years, Ms. Benassi brings to ESi a wealth of experience in architecture and construction. She specializes in forensic architecture, providing expert consulting to attorneys in construction disputes and construction defect matters, as well as owners/insurance adjusters in matters related to property loss claims arising from natural or man-made events.
“Carol is an outstanding addition to ESi and a strong complement to our senior leadership team,” said Dr. Chad Fischer, Principal and Director of ESi’s Civil, Structural and Environmental practice. “She is a seasoned architect and a successful entrepreneur, with an extensive background in design and construction. Her years and deep knowledge in these fields combine to offer clients forward-thinking and holistic insights across the complete life cycle of a structure, from initial conception, design and engineering to construction, performance evaluation and forensic investigation. Additionally, Carol’s accomplishments as an entrepreneur are grounded in a practical, client-focused approach and a proven ability to lead and manage organizational growth through talent development and strategic visioning.”
Ms. Benassi joins ESi from Thornton Tomasetti, where she served as vice president responsible for providing a full range of forensic architecture services to a domestic and international client base. During her time there, Ms. Benassi’s deep understanding of construction means and methods and her knowledge of building design, codes and standards made her a “go-to” resource for projects involving the conformance and performance of both new and existing structures.
This hire comes on the heels of the impressive growth in ESi’s Civil, Structural and Environmental practice over the past few years. “Even as we mobilize our teams to respond to the catastrophic losses experienced during the recent hurricanes, we are also seeing increased scrutiny on the design and construction of our buildings and infrastructure,” said Dr. Fischer. “ESi is committed to ensuring that we have a deep reservoir of experience and expertise that our clients can draw upon for day-to-day operational needs, as well as understanding and responding to changes in the industry.”
